Simply put, AI does not play a part in my creative work and it never will. If you commission a story from me, it will be written by me from scratch with no assistance from generative AI.

I believe that:

  • AI art is an oxymoronic term. Writing and visual art made with generative AI is not art.
  • That AI is damaging to the creative industries and to society as a whole.
  • The use of generative AI is a form of plagiarism since it just regurgitates the work that it’s stolen from real artists.

When I started doing this work, this wasn’t something that I needed to address. Even then, though, I made the choice early on to write every single piece from scratch. I knew that I could work to create templates, something I could edit to commission specs and reuse, but I decided not to. When I write for someone, I am creating a piece of erotic art, and it would feel false not to start from scratch. I also pride myself in my pieces being fully customisable. Working with people, I get to know exactly what they want, and it’s exciting to get inside the mind and desires of another and put them into words.

I believe that there would be no point to doing this if I took any assistance from generative AI. Not only do I believe that the work wouldn’t be up to my quality, but I also would see no point in producing it. I write because I’m an artist, because I think that our creations have value. The commissions I write are collaborations and use the ideas of my clients, it’s communication of desires between us as two (or more) people. I would never put an AI in the middle of that.

Not for writing, not for drafting, not for editing, not for admin. Never.

Do I have a policy for my clients?

I can’t and won’t police your use of AI, though I would always recommend and prefer that your messages to me and the notes you provide are written by yourself. I know that my clients are often nervous about their notes for me being badly written, rambling or full of grammatical errors, but this is no issue for me. I’d rather a spelling error filled mess written by you, than something you’ve had outputted by a chat bot. It might take time for us to make sure the details are clear, for me to fully understand your needs, but we can have that conversation and figure it out together.

I have had requests from people for me to edit something they’ve had produced by an AI rather than writing it myself from a brief, and this is something I would have to decline.

If you’ve supported my work in any way, then thank you for continuing to support human made art. I work in the realm of desires, beautifully messy human things, and that’s the kind of thing that AI will only ever be able to echo no matter how advanced it might get.
